David Burnell is a U.S. Air Force veteran, author, instructor, entrepreneur, humanitarian, rescue professional, and founder of Echo Valor. In 2002, he founded the Urban Warfare Center, where he spent a decade training law enforcement officers, military personnel, federal agents, security professionals, and civilians in self-defense, combatives, personal protection, emergency preparedness, and high-risk response. His work has also taken him into disaster-response and humanitarian environments in Haiti, Japan, Burma, and other locations, where he saw firsthand how preparation, leadership, service, and resilience matter when circumstances become difficult. As an author, David writes about courage, preparedness, self-defense, military history, rescue, leadership, faith, service, adversity, and the experiences that shape us. He created Echo Valor as a broader storytelling brand dedicated to preserving and sharing stories of courage, service, sacrifice, resilience, faith, and the people whose experiences deserve to be remembered, carrying that mission through books, music, podcasts, visual storytelling, and merchandise. Through Echo Valor Music, the Echo Valor Etsy shop, and the Echo Valor Podcast with David Burnell, he continues that work with one goal: to tell meaningful stories, preserve what is worth remembering, and turn hard-earned lessons into something others can carry forward.
